Overflowing

God is so good, isn't He? His love for us amazes me. It is truly a love that we will never be able to fully comprehend but strive for during our entire lives'. Sometimes we fail to remember this such wonder, though, and at those times we tend to focus only on what we feel are the negative aspects of life. However, God's love and beauty is everlasting and never-changing, something we should bask in daily and never take for granted.

How is it that we do too often overlook the blessings God bestows upon us? By doing this we miss out on many of the awesome happenings in life. More than not, these things are the little things, but when we shift our focus to them we become much more at peace - a peace that can only come from God.

This peace is frequently lost because we search in the wrong places or don't take the time to seek it out. Society has become so busy and wrapped up in the things of this world - the things "normal" people are supposed to achieve. Busyness can become one's worst enemy. It is a way Satan distracts us from God and he uses the stress caused by it to lead our thoughts away from the daily blessings - the small things - we receive from Him.

Don't forget to look around every once in a while and relish in God's beauty and glory. He provides us with so much that serve as reminders of His love for us and yet, too often these things go unoticed. Look at the beauty of nature around you, remember God, search and hold fast to the little things - the most precious things - in your life. Rid life of busyness as much as possible for those things are not eternal but God is. He is beautifully magnificent, loving, and will leave us in awe if we allow Him the opportunity to do so.

Overflowing

Oh God of many wonders
Your love runs deeper than life
For in Your plans there are no blunders
You have chosen to take me as Your wife

You've blessed me way beyond measure
My cup is overflowing with Your love
All of which I cherish as a treasure
Filled with peace symbolized as a dove

There are no words that can describe
How utterly amazing You are to me
A humbling of my pride
Dear God You opened up my eyes and heart to see

I wish I could just explain
My love and awe for You
It seems everything would be so plain
But my human words and actions cannot do

Your love is too great
Way beyond my comprehension
For the love I have for my mate
Seems too little to even mention

However, I know this love is a blessing
Sent to me from above
This to be used for professing
Of Your undying love

You've blessed me for Your honor
In order that You may receive praise
This grace leaves me to ponder
Entranced in an eternal gaze

Your beauty is astounding
One the eyes cannot fathom
Your voice is resounding
It's more glorious than I can imagine

None of this do I deserve
But because of Your Son
Who willingly served
All has been said and done

God You're overlowing in me
Hopefully others can see that too
For You are my light at sea
And I praise You because You are true

Only You, God

Sometimes we go through extremely difficult and heartbreaking times during our lives. These times can be brought on by various situations and circumstances but no matter what the cause, pain is the central feeling experienced. Crying out to God is often times all that we can do during these storms of life but we should and need to know that He is there listening and feels every ounce of pain that we're going through.

I wrote this poem my senior year of high school and now, looking back on it, I can't help but praise God for what He has brought me through and for the changes He made and is still making in me - He's amazing!!! However, I have a friend who is going through a difficult time right now and so that is why I've decided to post this poem - in hopes of reassuring her of God's everlasting love and presence throughout all we endure!!!

Only You God

Oh God, hear my cry.

My heart is breaking in two

And I'm just not sure what to do.

I know You're here with me

Because, despite all of this pain,

I can feel Your peace deep within.

I trust in You,

Let Your will be done,

But I need Your Healing

'coz my heart keeps breaking.

This pain is so deep and so I cry out to You.

You know what this is for and why I must go,

But Lord, I am blind and longing for Your touch.

This is the hardest thing I've ever had to do

And so Lord, I turn to You.

With You by my side I know everything will be alright.

The pain may not leave, but in the end Your glory will shine.

And so, Lord, I cry out to You.

My heart is breaking in two

But I know the true healing I need

Will come only straight from You.

Different Can Be Good

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY !!!

Well, today has been an interesting day. As I've been home I've realized just how much things change, even in just a short amount of time. Change occurs, people become different, and life continues progressing. I believe that there is truly a purpose behind each alteration that takes place in our lives. Often times we look too hard at the negative aspect of situations though and miss what we could be learning or experiencing. Change is good, even if it seems bad at the time, as long as God's fingerprints are found all over it. So here is a poem I again wrote as a freshman in high school but am just now beginning to truly see how amazingly true it is and how the changes that occurred during and even after those four years have truly helped shape who I am. Thank you Lord Jesus!!!!!

Things I Wish Were Different

If only I could've made the grades.
If only I could've made the cut.

If only I could've made it work.
If only I would've done something else,
it wouldn't have turned out this way.

If only I were different.
If only I weren't me.
If only I were someone else.
If only I could change.

I wish I'd made a different choice.
I wish things would've worked.

If only things were different,
Then I wouldn't be me, you wouldn't be you,
and this world wouldn't be what it is today.

If only everything was better.
But if only this all happened, things just might be worse.

Praise God during the good times but seek and praise Him during the trials of life as well! He is good all the time and He will never fail you!!!!

Rain

Okay, I've become too anxious to wait to post anything (plus I'm trying to avoid doing more homework!), so I'm going to post the first poem I actually ever wrote which was done my freshman year of high school. Therefore, it may not seem to be the best poem but I think a message is still conveyed. I'm learning, however, that lessons learned then often times only carry us so far until we move on to a new chapter in our live's and realize that things now aren't as they once were. God uses our past experiences to teach us lessons but sometimes those lessons take on new meaning and new approaches than that of which they once did.

Rain

Love is rain.

It is needed for survival but can become a nuisance.

We can tell love is beginning to fall but still, it hits in a downpour.

Sometimes its just a shower jesting for a short time

other times it's constant and ends up a flood,

it's effects lasting for a lifetime.

It can be sweet, gentle, and soothing

or it can be hard, threatening and torrential.

Love can be blinding on the road called life.

Sometimes we can hardly see where we're going or what's coming at us.

While drenching us, it can be fantastic, horrid, or sometimes even both.

Love can be dreary and usually cascades when least expected.

It can splash us in the face or be a mist barely noticeable.

Love is a life necessity for all living things.

Just Beginning...

Well, this is a post to just say hello! I will be posting more soon and most of my posts will probably be poetry I have written both current and past (back to my freshman year in high school). Many of the past writings no longer apply to my life as they once did but I know often times others can relate to things we've endured so I will post them anyways. I'm excited to get started and to get back into writing my poetry again and I hope you all enjoy the posts or at least that they will stir thoughts and create wonderings in your head!!
