Posing a question

As my last post stated, I read the Bible for quite some time this evening. I was reading in Matthew and it left me with many questions, one of which I will pose here. Please let me know what all of your opinions are on this topic. It is of great interest to me.

Why did Jesus tell the people He healed to not speak of what He had done?

Why did He tell His disciples not to tell anyone He was the Christ?

In general, why did Jesus seem to want to be kept such a secret, revealing Himself
to none, yet everyone all at the same time?
